Golden Compass Print Preview
It’s the day before the con and we’re in our hotel room after a hectic day of last minute prep and packing! If you’re in Portland come say hi and maybe buy a print! We’re at table L-03 in Artist’s Alley!
Today’s print preview is a piece from a book series that I recently fell in love with. Lyra, her daemon Pantalaimon, and Iorek Byrnison from the Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman.
I have to say that I did enjoy the first book, but as soon as the second one started and they were talking about finding and killing God, I was turned off. Even if I wasn’t christian, I couldn’t support any book that promotes destroying the primary focus of ANY religion.
I can understand that. I, on the other hand, count Preacher among my favorite comics, and there’s all kinds of blasphemy in that.
Given the state of the world, if there were some sort of deity responsible for this mess, I’d say it was deserving of destruction.
IMO. religion is merely self-delusion, so I would be indifferent to it’s loss.
That being the case. I shall have to check out both “Golden Compass” and “Preacher”.
THE FERRET! O^O
